A beautiful and almost perfect Dutch darning sampler made at the Werk-en Leerschool in Amsterdam.
The initials along the "star darning" are of the governesses of the school; Anna Maria Sterling and Barbara ten Sande. The sampler was not completely finished; the girl's initials are missing!
Finely worked with silk on cotton.
Size: 42 x 40cm. Not framed
In a very good condition with a (water-) stain in the right lower part.
