A very attractive and early Dutch  (Friesland) sampler made by DP in 1717.

 

The origin of this sampler, with its lustrous Tree of Life having the small peacock like doves and the heart in the middle point to the South West of Friesland, possibly Workum.

 

Finely worked with silk on linen in a variety of stitches such as eyelet- and chainstitch.

Size: 30 x 65 cm, not framed.

 

In a very good condition, very good colors.

 

The sampler has nine wonderful alphabets together with numerous small patterns.
