Dazzling darning sampler worked by Dutch (Nijkerk or Amsterdam) girl Hermijntje Schouten in 1799. The six separate (damask-) darns were each neatly hemmed and connected with bobbin lace. Immetje Claesdochter 1662

A important and very rare whitework sampler made by Immetje Claes, 'out dertien jaer' in 1662 in Broek in Waterland. Immetje was born in 1648, right in the middle of the wealthy sampler making culture of Broek (see Extra). Made with silk and linen on very fine linen. Size: 14 x 37 cm incl. frame 20 x 42 cm.
